Time

Oh man, time just has this against me. It’s always running from me and I can’t seem to catch up to it.

The Writing Can’t Wait.

The Writing Can’t Wait.

Writing is something I really like to do. I’ve got this website… TheGeeksAttic.com, a place to post whatever I could possibly imagine – yet I hesitate. One of my biggest dreams is to become an author; to write an epic fantasy, a science fiction, or even a lovely children’s book. I’ve got notebooks full of wonderful ideas. Believe it or not, many of the ideas I wrote several years ago have actually found their way to greater minds; coming to fruition through other author’s books and even movies. I kick myself when these things come about. It means my idea was wonderful, that someone else managed to come up with it too and actually put the adventures and names to paper.

I’m tired of not committing to my writing – tired of dedicating my free time to reading or watching art produced by someone else. The time to create should be now, not tomorrow, for there is no guarantee that tomorrow will come. If you are like me, stop wasting your time and get to work.

This Blog

Maybe a big step to getting myself back into the swing of writing, I should start posting here more often. I’ve felt a major shift in my life recently; it has nothing to do with any specific event. The website may be seeing some changes… it must change. In my videos posted on YouTube, I’m always trying to send you here. After looking the site over I’ve come to realize there really isn’t anything interesting here. I plan to change that.

Thrawn: Treason Initial Reaction

Thrawn: Treason Initial Reaction

Admiral Thrawn is back! Timothy Zahn’s third installment of the canon Thrawn trilogy has arrived. The blue Chiss character has a knack for outwitting his opponents, either inside or outside of the Empire. As of this post, I am seven chapters deep in Thrawn: Treason and enjoying every word of it. For a quick assessment and early reaction; the story is on its way to being one of the best in recent publications. The story is simple yet clever, exciting, and amusing.

Some have argued in the past that the character of Thrawn is too perfect or even too boring! I can agree to an extent with those arguments, but Thrawn Treason… so far, is proving to be an outstanding novel!

A full review of Thrawn: Treason will be up very soon. Until then, follow these links to past Thrawn novel reviews for a refresher:

Keep an eye out for more book reviews that will be published in the coming weeks, such as two Stranger Things novels, Star Wars: Black Spire, and Star Wars: A Crash of Fate.

March 2018

March 2018

The “to read” stack of books and comics keeps getting bigger as I slowly make it through one piece of literature at a time. My current read is the novelization of Dragonslayer, one of my favorite films ever, released in 1981. Up next in the que is Star Wars: Join the Resistance, a young reader novel.

So many big movies have hit theaters and so many more to come later this year! Sadly, I haven’t had the chance to see anything yet! When it comes to Black Panther… for some odd reason I didn’t mind missing that one, I’ll see that on bluray. I absolutely loved the Tomb Raider reboot games, heard the film wasn’t that great. Pacific Rim, the first one was fun, a little tacky, and not that great… so I’ll see the sequel on bluray. There are two films though, that I will most definitely be seeing, Avengers: Infinity War and Solo: A Star Wars Story. Still waiting on that novelization news for Solo.

In other news, a few years ago I was in the process of writing a book but the writing was put on hiatus. I have pulled up the notes and draft of the first 6 chapters. I plan on picking up where I left off. All I will say now is that it’s a fantasy. I have another story that would make for a great comic series but I’m not a comic artist and sadly can’t afford to hire one. If you’re an artist and want to do some art for it… email me! We could work together and try to get something published.

-GOALS-

A new year is here! Tis a time of rebooting one’s self, a new beginning. New goals will be made, be it weight loss, weight gain, gaining wisdom, reading more books… we all want to do something great or interesting in 2018. I wish you the best, Happy New Year!

Life is a busy thing, especially when your married, have kids, work a full time job, and have many hobbies! I’ve been thinking about the channel and website, and what I hope to accomplish. I don’t have the perfect plan yet, but I will keep providing content. Below, I’ve listed a few goals for TheGeeksAttic.

In 2018, an established reading plan will be made. The reviews we can look forward to are mostly the same: Star Wars Canon, Warcraft, Novelizations, and Star Wars Legends

What I’m most excited about and hope you are as well, are the Star Wars Legends canon reviews. I will be releasing novel reviews that take place during the Old Republic Era. I’ve got two more books to read and review before I start releasing them to the public.

The monthly geekVLOG series will continue. In those videos I’ll mostly stick to the same format: What I’m readying, hauls, upcoming content, and clips of something fun or unique I did the previous month. I like the Vlog because it lets me be a bit more personal with you folks.

A personal goal… continue writing my book. I want to finish it.
